We also very easily forget how important it is to spend time with others. Forgetting this can be the beginning of conflicts. Individuals begin to distance themselves from each other because they do not feel valued.

It is not easy to find a good balance. This world values ​​speed and productivity. Because of this, we may feel stressed when spending time with friends instead of working.

However, it is important that we stop and think about the value that we put into time. Sometimes people spend their free time watching us. Other times, they “find” time to see us. When they do this, one should know that they are giving one the best gift they can give.

These moments are worth it. They let us create memories that we can store. They also help give us emotional connections to others. This is the paint that we use to add color to our lives.

How much is an hour of your time worth?

A man came home from work late at night once more. He was tired and annoyed. His 5-year-old son was waiting for him at the door.

“Dad, may I ask you something?”

“Yes of course, what is it?” Replied the man.

“Dad, how much money do you make per hour?” He asked with wide eyes.

“It is none of your business! What makes you ask that? ” Said the man angrily.

“I just wanted to know. Please tell, whats the story of them big puppys ….. How much do you earn per hour? ” Asked the little boy.

“If you absolutely must know, I earn DKK 700 an hour.”

“Oh,” replied the little boy with his head bowed. He looked up and said, “Dad, may I not borrow 350 kroner?”

The father was furious.

“If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I was making was so you could borrow some to buy a mind-numbing toy or something like that, then you could go straight into your room and go to bed. . Think about why you are so selfish.

I work hard and long every day. And I do not have time for these childish doctors. “

The little boy went quietly into his room and closed the door.

The man sat down and began to get even more angry at the little boy’s questions.

How could he afford to ask such a question to get some money.

After an hour or so, the man had calmed down. And he began to think that he might have been a little harsh with his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with the 350 kr. And he did not ask for money very often. The man went to the door into the little boy’s room and opened it.

“Are you sleeping, kid?” – he asked.

“No, father, I’m awake,” replied the boy.

“I have thought about it. Maybe I was too hard on you before. ” – said the man. “It’s been a long day and I let my anger go beyond you. Here are the 350 kroner you asked for. ”

The little boy sat up. He beamed. “Oh thank you Dad!” – he yelled. Then he reached his hand under his pillow. He pulled out some crumpled sheets of paper.

The man started getting angry again when he saw that the boy already had money.

The little boy slowly counted his money. Then he looked up at the man.

“Why would you want more money if you already have some?” – muttered the father.

“Because I did not have enough, but I have now.” Replied the little boy.

“Dad, I have DKK 700 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you. ”

The father was crushed. And he put his arms around his little son and asked for forgiveness.

Sharing time gives life

As we can see in the previous story, giving life is the same as giving time. It can overwhelm us to think about the number of changes that have happened over time.

But something else is that if we think about it, then we will realize something. Time and change can be conceptually synonyms. Both are the essence of our lives, growth and relationships.

People will often say “I love you” and “you are important to me” by spending time with us. The best way to respond to this is by giving them one’s own time.

We must not forget that  our best investment will always be the time we dedicate to our friends and family.
